Ms. Ryan's first lunch date of the new semester. These four young ladies from Mrs. Strode's class used their points to "purchase" lunch with Ms. Ryan. We had a fun-filled lunch catching up on life over the past three weeks.

Last Friday afternoon, Mrs. Jacquinot's class and Mr. Medina's class spent some time learning and discussing Martin Luther King Jr.

3rd Grade Study Islanders Friday lunch DANCE PARTY!

Reminder: No School Monday

Ms. Vaughn's second graders had a discussion about what kind of snow is best to build a snowman or make a snowball. We ventured out into the cold and all the students were successful at making a snowball. Our conclusion was that wet snow works best. We ended our experiment to see who could launch their snowball the highest into the air. What a fun day!

Mr. Pontious had an excellent Assistant Principal today. He was accompanied throughout the day by Mr. Burzinski from Ms. Pollard's class. He came dressed for his role and he paid attention to the details of his schedule. Another great day in the life of a Garfield 3rd grader.

Students in Mr. Medina's class learned about the phases of the moon during their Wonders lesson. To understand all eight phases the students used Oreos to demonstrate the different phases.

Garfield’s Study Islanders celebrated their first dance party last Friday!!! They’ve earned Blue Ribbons in all their grade level topics in Study Island.

Students in Mr. Medina's class wanted to go outside the snow. They were out there for three minutes and they were ready to go back in including Mr. Medina himself. They brought a snowball indoors to see how long it took to melt. It took one hour and thirty-three minutes.

Getting comfy and working on the rug while mapping spelling words makes it way more engaging.

The snow this morning was beautiful, but very cold. We waited until afternoon when the temp was the highest to go outside. We spent less than 5 minutes because it was still pretty cold but the kids enjoyed the few minutes of playing in the snow.

On Friday Mrs. Tierney's class started to learn about coding using Botley the Coding Robot. They learned how to code Botley to move and then created obstacles for their robot to maneuver through. The students are excited to learn more coding.
