Students took turns today reading their favorite poems from our literature anthology. They learned about different characteristics of poetry and talked about how it different reading poetry than it is a story.

February was Black History Month and we spent some time talking about influential people of color. Today Mrs. Tierney read A Taste of Freedom to the class and they got their own copy to take home. This book was written about a Haitian slave who hungered and fought for freedom.

At recess Mrs. Tierney looked over to see her students sitting so nicely together on the bench. As soon as they saw me start to take a picture they started to run off. They humored me with a few posed pictures though. What great kids!
