The Grid Method was taught to 7th and 8th grade art students, to create drawings of either their favorite hero or villain. Enhancing their artistic eye by facilitating accurate scaling proportionate representation in drawings is beneficial for enlarging images while maintaining precise proportions, using a reference image with a 1-inch grid to recreate a drawing on a 2-inch grid, thus increasing its size. Students also got the chance to apply value shading by utilizing a new art medium known as watercolor pencils, to help enhance their details within their drawing to make them look 3D.

Ms. Vincent's 6th grade art students embarked on an exciting journey of artistic discovery, delving into the world of one-point perspective and the techniques for creating depth and space in landscape drawings. As they explored the possibilities of chalk and oil pastels, they developed a deeper understanding of color values and scales. With their newfound knowledge, students crafted stunning Northern Lights-inspired winter landscapes, complete with soft, blended textures that captured the essence of the night sky.

Along with applying their art knowledge of value scales, shading, color theory, and implied textures they learned at the beginning of the quarter to give their drawings life!
