To better grasp their studies into breaking down facial features and proportions, Parsons Middle School students in Miss Vincent's art class used eyeliner on each other's faces to draw lines identifying spacing and defining heir facial features, giving a more 3-D perspective.
Science students were challenged to use the Periodic Table of Elements to write their names, helping students to become better acquainted with the scientific information they will need as they progress through high school and possibly college.

The Grid Method was taught to 7th and 8th grade art students, to create drawings of either their favorite hero or villain. Enhancing their artistic eye by facilitating accurate scaling proportionate representation in drawings is beneficial for enlarging images while maintaining precise proportions, using a reference image with a 1-inch grid to recreate a drawing on a 2-inch grid, thus increasing its size. Students also got the chance to apply value shading by utilizing a new art medium known as watercolor pencils, to help enhance their details within their drawing to make them look 3D.

Ms. Vincent's 6th grade art students embarked on an exciting journey of artistic discovery, delving into the world of one-point perspective and the techniques for creating depth and space in landscape drawings. As they explored the possibilities of chalk and oil pastels, they developed a deeper understanding of color values and scales. With their newfound knowledge, students crafted stunning Northern Lights-inspired winter landscapes, complete with soft, blended textures that captured the essence of the night sky.

Ms. Beery's 6th Grade perler bead ornaments were a hit again this year! Be on the lookout for your students creations!

Quote from the Grinch, "To kindness & love, the things we need most!" Which is why, Ms. Vincent's 6th grade art students needed some holiday fun and learned how to create their very own Grinch draws. They learn how to draw portraits by focusing on proportions and symmetry in creating their Grinches faces. Along with applying their art knowledge of value scales, shading, color theory, and implied textures they learned at the beginning of the quarter to give their drawings life!

Students have kept Librarian Media Specialist, Mrs. Peak, busy with their 3D print requests. Students were to follow instructions and the 4 criteria to be able to receive their 3D print. At PMS there were 161 requests with 109 items being printed. Students will be allowed another opportunity to fill out the form for another print after our Christmas break. Here are just a few of the so many cool prints!
