Mr. Holmes’ class made and tested their own straw-rockets with Mr. Duroni. They were able to test out different rocket fins and try out different angles and pressures of the rocket launcher to see how far their straw-rockets would fly. 6 students’ rockets made it to the target, so Mr. Duroni bought M&Ms for the winners and enough for the whole class, too!

Today, students in Mr. Holmes’ class were doctors and nurses! 😁 We had to sift through “guts” (red Jell-O) to find and answer questions to a story about Mr. Holmes breaking his wrist, fix sentences with missing commas using band-aids, look at x-rays and use context clues to figure out medical terms, “stitch” up hands and feet by matching sentences to the correct frequently confused words, and do “surgery” to cut and paste text features found in old magazines onto our patients’ bodies!
